Located in the beautiful Georgian market town of Hingham, Norfolk, Hassingham House Care Centre is a private, high-quality nursing care and residential care facility offering compassionate and professional support services to younger adults and older people who need the assurance of 24/7 assistance.

We specialise in supporting residents with neurological conditions and spinal injuries, alongside offering secure, respectful care for those aged 65 and over from throughout our community and the broader Norfolk region. Our focus on family-feel care and the skills and empathy of our superb nursing and support teams ensure every resident is safe and happy while being encouraged to continue the routines and hobbies they love.
Each of our spacious purpose-built private suites includes a small bathroom for the residents’ personal use, within our modern and highly accessible property. We can support up to 44 residents at any one time, and provide ongoing, long-term residential nursing care and shorter-term assistance to help with recovery, rehabilitation, recuperation and respite for family caregivers.
The warm, welcoming and social environment at Hassingham House enables each individual to choose how they spend their day, with a relaxing courtyard, wonderful sensory gardens and musical facilities to enjoy. We recommend all new residents and their loved ones bring furnishings and possessions along to customise their private room and fill the space with familiar and treasured belongings.
Hassingham House is proud to offer high-quality nursing care, but we also focus on healthy, engaging and inclusive activities and entertainment, designing lifestyle programmes to provide stimulation, fun and enjoyment. Within the care centre we regularly host quiz nights, arts and crafts sessions and garden parties, with barbecues in the gardens during warmer weather.
Other facilities and services range from screening sports matches on the widescreen TV, scheduling manicures and blow-dry treatments in our well-equipped salon, or helping residents remain active in the community, with several local churches, parks, green spaces and independent shops within close proximity.
Nutrition and tasty meals are key to quality of life, and we work with our expert catering partners who specialise in dining for the healthcare sector – blending flavours and textures that taste delicious while ensuring all residents can stipulate their likes and dislikes or receive tailored meal planning to support their healthcare and dietary needs.
Meals are often served in our bright, airy lounges, where residents catch up, make friends and socialise – these spaces are also perfect for friends and family, who are welcome to join us to spend quality time with their loved one, participate in celebrations and parties, or keep their relative company over an afternoon tea.

By far the best care facility in Norfolk! My Dad has been a resident here for the past 4 years and I can't honestly think of a better place for him.
Moving into a nursing care facility is a big change, and it is imperative that every resident feels supported, welcome and able to ask questions, let us know their preferences, and control the types of care they receive. We organise thorough care needs assessments for all prospective residents, where our multidisciplinary care professionals can check whether the facilities, nursing support and care we offer are the best match for the individual’s needs.
Meeting the care team beforehand is a great opportunity to explore the grounds, see our accommodation rooms, chat with other residents and get a feel for the warmth and compassion our care teams embody. On moving-in day we’ll be ready and waiting to offer emotional support, practical help and to make introductions, making the process stress-free for all.
Our care capacity is limited by the number of private rooms we offer – ensuring each resident receives dedicated, personalised support from carers and nurses they know and trust. That can also mean we need to operate a waiting list due to ongoing demand.
We recommend getting in touch at any time if you would like to enquire about admission to Hassingham House for yourself or a loved one and to arrange a good time for a guided tour with either our care manager or a team member.
Enrichment and fun is essential at every age, and we continually develop new calendars of events, visiting entertainers and group activities – while ensuring reach resident has autonomy over the types of events they’d like to join in with, and days when they would prefer to relax with a good book in the courtyard or their room.
All activities are fully supported by our experienced care teams and nursing staff, removing any barriers to participation. Popular options include cinema evenings, flower arranging, parties to mark special occasions, watching live musicians and speakers, heading to the shops for a spot of retail therapy, or lending a hand in our sensory gardens to keep our plants and beds looking great.
Hassingham House has a fast, on-demand internet connection for residents who like to chat or play games online and an active resident’s association that helps us try new ideas, listen to suggestions or requests, and keep updating the entertainment we organise.
Whether here in the care centre or during a day trip to the attractions and coastlines around Norfolk, we cater to individual personalities, mixing one-on-one and group events based on the resident’s care needs and wishes. Our care teams also ensure residents can continue to follow their religion or faith and can accompany individuals to ceremonies or services or provide access to virtual broadcasts where required.

Our medical, lifestyle and accommodation facilities adhere to our exacting standards, with 24/7 nursing cover and a team of carers and visiting therapists. Each room within the care centre has its own call system, with the assurance that a capable and friendly carer or nurse is always available at any time of day or night.
During each day, our care teams offer help with personal care needs such as washing and dressing, personalised help with medications and rehabilitation, sensitive assistance with visiting the bathroom, and care support such as skin integrity care.
As specialists in nursing care for adults of all ages, including those in later life or living with physical disabilities, we have all the requisite knowledge and experience to deliver complete support and lifestyle programmes. Our dementia care facilities are also designed to provide the best possible quality of life and continuity of care for residents with conditions such as dementia and Alzheimer’s.
Visiting healthcare professionals supplement the around-the-clock nursing and care we provide, including a dentist, an optician, occupational therapists, a chiropodist and a physiotherapist, alongside GP cover to ensure any changes in a resident’s well-being or health are swiftly recorded and managed.
